Quickjack system

Post by ZionXIX »

Has anyone ever used the Quickjack system on our P80s? The idea looks pretty solid but I am a bit concerned about the jack points of our cars. Every video demonstration Ive seen has the lift using commonly found pinch weld lift points on domestic cars. The P80s look different to me (especially the weird spot for the tire jack) and I would be worried about damaging the body. I tend to save most of my maintenance for one day and do brakes, tire rotation, fluid changes and so forth all at the same time. This is a great idea, however I want someone else to be the guinea pig first :D

For that price you can get a legit shop lift now.

Often that type of lift configuration prevents exhaust, trans., steering rack, etc work from being done. Good for brakes, tires, and oil changes.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. If I were to buy a lift for garage use, this would be the one. Free shipping and financing. Adapts to pretty much whatever lift point you need and it's relatively low profile

Im sure there are pros and cons to each system. I dont see how the quickjack would prevent work on any of the systems you mentioned. I was thinking it would be better suited for its portability. For instance you could take it to a friends house to assist them with a job. The MaxJax would prevent that kind of portability. Also some of us rent from overbearing landlords who may frown upon holes being drilled into the foundation. I do like how short the maxjax is though, the standard garage just isnt made to fit a full size lift. I would love to zoom around under there on a nice rolling stool. It would sure save my knees some pain.

But back to my original question. Would the pinch welds between the wheels be sturdy enough to support the vehicles weight? It comes with some nice rubber blocks to cushion the load. Their stress tests are crazy. The 5,000lbs model supported 20,000lbs in the raised and locked position. I would not expect the little hydraulic motor to lift that much but it is nice to know it wont collapse on me while I'm working.

If the pinch welds hold the these cars up on a jack and / or jack stands I would think they would hold using the lift too. Also I am pretty sure (based on reviews I saw about it) the jack is narrower than a traditional post jack and will block the areas I mentioned. Do your research before you buy otherwise you'll have an expensive tire jack.

For a permanent garage, a 2 post lift seems better to me. Thinking of height etc... Seems like your are Not gaining much versus 2 harbor freight floor jacks and stands cant do.

I was hoping someone on here had used them before and would care to share their experience.

Just looked at their website and it appears they don't block the center like other brand units. does not seem to go high enough to pull a transmission from below .
