Erik, the photos for hose 3 were a big help resolving my P0172 issue. In my case, the elbow at the flame trap was swollen and fell off the nipple. Thanks, this one is tough to locate without your pictures.

On my '98 V70, Line 8 (cruise control) is cracked and isn't holding pressure. I'm planning to replace the whole line with a fresh 3.5mm hose. Questions:

1. How long is Line 8? (how much hose do I need to buy?)

2. Is silicon hose OK for Line 8?

1. I don't know! Four feet would be enough for sure, you may only need two feet. You will be connecting it onto some hard plastic tubing, the tubing that goes through the firewall.

2. For sure, silicone or rubber will work for #8.

New to the Volvo family - bought a 1996 850 for my son as a sort-of high school graduation present. And it has the infamous P0172 code. When we opened the hood, vacuum line #4 was staring us in the face - broken off. Replacing it today.

Hi..Greetings to all...I know it is an old thread but....I have a question about line 7, I have a strange brakes problem, sometimes the brakes are superb but most of the time are just average. The disks and pads are ok, the callipers are refurbished, brake fluid is changed but the brakes are the same, You´ll never know how will it brake. I noticed that if I press brake pedal harder than it brakes better for some time and then again average or bad. Can that problem be related to vacuum hose? Thanks in advance. Cheers!!

It could be vacuum related but I think Looking over the calipers carefully for sticking would be first

The calipers are completely cleaned up about month ago, the new disks are put on about 15tkm ago along with new pads, brake fluid is also put about month ago along with the calliper job. The reason why I put new disks and pads is when I bought a car, it didn´t brake very well although the material was in good shape but I figure that previous owner put some rubish, so I put new parts, Zimmermann disks and Ferodo pads, because I was advised at Volvo club in my country this is the good quality for a reasonable price, and it really is, the car brakes fantastic sometimes (then I can feel strong hard brake pedal), but most of the time just average (then I can feel soft and spongy pedal). And the mechanic said he doesn´t know what to do anymore. The material is ok, calipers are ok, fluid is ok, master cilinder is ok....that is why I think it does have something with vacuum hose.

You’ve got air in the hydraulics. It can be tough to get out. Perhaps a power bleeder might help?

May also wish to debate reverse bleeding if all else fails. Commonly performed on motorcycles so YT should have videos on it.
