Don't know if I'm supposed to post this, but I'm doing it anyway...
This diagram is for '98 S70, but it should be about the same as your 850.

Anything on the inter webs on wiring is fine to post - but by agreement with Volvo, Matt and his minions refrain from posting these diagrams.

Two thoughts if you haven't solved this yet.

My 850 had run fine in June. Started multiple times right away and showed no signs of pump failure. I parked it and when I tried to start it in October when it wasn't real cold it wouldn't even pop.

To confirm I had spark I used an inline spark plug tester. Checked 3 or 4 plug wires and all were delivering a good spark. The plugs were not real bad but hadn't been changed in quite a while so I replaced those and the rotor.

Otherwise, I looked for problems that I didn't think were fuel related b/c I "just knew" it couldn't be that since it started and run last time I drove it.

Finally, out of exasperation, I swapped in a used pump known to have worked before and it started right up and ran fine all winter.

I don't even remember where I got that, but it's from a complete wiring diagram PDF I had while diagnosing my transmission light. Glad I found it, now I can find anything I need!
