Part identification help

What is this part called? It's attached to the right side of the intake manifold. Part number would be even better if someone knows it.

p.s. yes, there is a part number written on it, but it's an illegible mess of dot-matrix printed ambiguous characters, so it's no help unfortunately.

Should have a 10mm hose attached to it, connecting to the brake booster tank

I might have one from my parts car - but Not back in Boston until a week from Tuesday. I think its a crazy $50-60 part from Volvo?

Looks like you can get a well-rated aftermarket part from FCP for $25.

I visited Naumkeag Used Auto Parts here in Salem on my lunch break yesterday. http://naumkeagusedautoparts.net/ Turns out they have about half a dozen P2 Volvos in the yard to pick from, so I was able to get this part. I'm not in love with Naumkeag, but it has the advantage of being very close by. Some day I will make it up to Holland's, as I've heard good things about it from several people. My father-in-law goes there all the time for parts, but he's retired and has the advantage of having time during the day to make that drive... 30 minutes each way as opposed to 10.

What makes these Brake Booster Vacuum Ejectors go bad?

I'd guess it's a pressure detecting valve which wears (effecting sealing capacity) or breaks (spring).
