Judging by the Motorola logo on the box, I would guess that this was some sort of hands free setup from way back in the day.Rustyprelude wrote: ↑27 Nov 2017, 13:08 I finally pulled a bunch of stuff out of my dash behind my radio. Turns out I need to put the blue adapter back in, since its for the CD changer. Not pictured is a mini-coax cable that runs to the antenna in the rear window. Anybody know what this stuff is for?

Hi,
Drove it to Home Depot to pick up some containers, spackle, other stuff, about a mile away
That's all i did (yesterday) because i have not had a chance to do the other things i have planned yet.
I try to take a monthly snapshot of the ECU monitors though using a camera so i have a record.

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Today, I replaced the broken rear-view mirror in the 2000 V70 — with one I bought off eBay for $19 shipped!
The process was easier than I had expected. After gently prying out the map light covers with a small screwdriver in the top-side slot, I removed the plastic lighting assembly with a T-10 Torx bit.
Two T-30 Torx screws hold the metal plate that secures the mirror assembly to the car's frame. They were easy to remove with the mirror part missing, though I had to bend the new one out of the way to get a socket + wrench in there.
I forgot to take a picture of the new mirror because I was headed to work, but it works much better than the previous, non-Volvo one that had been glued to the windshield before falling off. I had propped it on the dash, making for interesting reflections, though they weren't all that useful for gauging traffic.

Congratulations! That's less than I paid for my 1998 V70 base with 146k miles in 2013.
What's first on the repair schedule?

A day after trying to get this oil filter housing off the 2000 V70 by hand, I gave up and took three trips to AutoZone and one to Advance Auto Parts to settle on a filter wrench. The plastic housing has a torque spec of 25nm but I swear it's more like 250nm.
After clawing up the exterior for a few minutes, I finally cracked in loose and it continued to be so tight that I kept using the plier-like tool almost to the end. (The oil filter was filthy!) Popped the new one in, and it was tough to get the housing back on. Is that normal? Should I replace the plastic housing for the oil filter?
I thought this was all supposed to be fun!

The oil filter canister on the '99+ can be a pain to remove without the right tool. You need a special size oil filter wrench like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VOLVO-Cap-Styl ... SwEK9UEwFj
Definitely worth buying it to have on hand! My cousin and I were so confused the first time we changed his oil because we could not find a way to get it off. Ended up having to leave the filter for next time. He has the wrench now and it comes off no problem every time.
