Apparently not yet hausmeister,
Good to hear from Austria !
This is taken from the site shown below. It's kind of an interesting history etc.
Today CARFAX's constantly expanding database contains over 5 billion unique records compiled from hundreds of separate data sources including motor vehicle departments in the United States and Canada, vehicle inspection stations, auto auctions, fleet management and rental agencies, automobile manufacturers and fire and police departments.

Well thx!
There are a lot of Volvo's on Austrian roads
Ok, I was wondering why nobody here seems to know/use it.
Well, at least you get more thrill out of buying a car without it lol

It's my understanding that it would only be useful in Canada and the U.S. as of now. But it's becoming so rapidly popular according to the history that I would imagine that it's just a matter of time before they take it international.
So I just want the folks reading to know that if they click on hausmeister's gasoline symbol it pulls up the gas consumption data on his vehicles.
Does, Austria have a mandated fuel monitoring system?
I'm guessing that is your 440 GL that I see when I click on your user name. We don't get those in the states but imagine one day I might see one that's been brought over.

Kind of curious if equinutok is getting that wagon ?

Nope no fuel monitoring, I just like to keep a record on it - this site makes that easy. Partly because on my 440 the odometer was not working anymore, so I never really knew how much it burnt
You can also enter your oil changes and so on - its nice to have all that in one place.
Well the 440 was a shitty car, but it was also very old and cheap. It was easy to repair, and it had a nice pull for 90hp (only ~1000kg). I really liked it anyways. Before I gave it away i removed the air filter for fun .. I really should have gotten an k&n from the beginning.
I posted some vids of it in the 440 section some time ago.
We are getting off topic, sorry
And to make the Spam Filter happy: Volvo!

I forgot to add that was the first thing I did do was the carfax. Its clean all the way including the miles on it. Passed all inspections in Texas and everything. A little impressive I thought . All and all the car is pretty clean with a few scratches and door dings. He parked it at a college lot because he is a professor there. I will be getting the paint to deal with the scratch on the hood that looks like a cat took a slide! Not bad really. One nick on the interior door panel that I need to get the glue our for. The leather is extremely nice as well as it appeared they did not have floor mats for a long time because the carpet is not crunched but its super clean. The first thing my daughter did after going to IKEA was get chocolate on the seat! We had to pull over and get out the baby wipes! Bottom line is clutch or something is not good making that noise when the clutch is in. It shifts and does not slip at all. It flew home if you know what I mean.
The interior air filter is in this car already. He gave me a box with a new one, several new oil filters, a ummm flame catcher? I will remember in the morning. His old spark plugs because he just changed them and wanted me to know the ones in the car and see the set he removed. Also he gave me the serpentine belt he had and the timing belt. He was pretty heavy into caring for the car but was limited on what he could do. He was also telling about a site that was free regarding blow ups of parts and instructions. This car was in Boston and brought to Dallas from Boston a couple of years ago. he bought it in Boston to bring to Dallas. That part all checked out fine. Like I said he was limited with what he could do with working on the car. I do need the muffler brackets and the rubber gaskets . I have seen where to get the hanger things but not the metal parts that slide into them. Do I have to replace the entire exhuast? I sure hope not.

Congrats and welcome to the family. I just came up with a new name for this place: The VOLVO NUT house. ..
Can you describe how loud the clutch sound is. Sounds like it could be the throwout bearing which rides on the clutch ( pressure plate ) while it rotates. At least thats what the rear wheel drive manuals had. That would be kind of good and not so good news. The good news is the trans is fine . The bad is the trans may have to come out if you want to replace it but I don't know squat about front wheel drive manuals.
IF FWD manuals are the same as rear wheel, that isn't a part that would leave you stranded all of a sudden. It will make considerable noise before that happens. So don't let anyone scare you into a speedy and expensive repair. The only part it can harm is the pressure plate and even that is doubtful. If it was seized up it would be making a ton of racket and then it's time for a fix ASAP.
Sounds like you have good repore w/ the former owner. Just ask him about it and how long it's made the noise. Usually the longer the better because it means it is not a quickly deteriorating problem.
Doesn't seem like you would need new exhaust. An honest muffler mechanic should be able to fix you up with generic hanger parts.
Kinda curious what you paid for the wagon. Really anything under 7k is OK considering the mileage and the fact that it's a wagon...

The chattering was not heard by the man because when you are in the car with all the windows shut you can barely hear it. If you know its there you can hear it otherwise not really.
What is sounds like is its coming from right under the heat shield. It actually sounds like the heat shield is loose and vibrating. Sort of a ding ping ! I am making some calls today to get it replaced, Because it only does this when the clutch is in , It just needs to go to a shop.
Yes the owner is a good guy, I do not think he would have done anything intentional at all. He is looking for another volvo right now and not having a lot of luck. His wife needs an automatic. As for what I paid for this wagon is 5200.00. With the low miles and the fact aside from door dings and scratches this car is super clean. I am going to get the floor mats in today. My husband is now calling me a Volvo dork.
