I felt naughty driving it home from Huntington, L.I. (about 90 miles) with only proof of insurance, no registration and no plates.

Took a drive on the wild side (apologies to Lou Reed).

If I tried driving with no plates, I know karma would smack me and send multiple cops to my intended path...

Congrats and welcome to the joys of P2 ownership which is about the same as P80 ownership!

You did not mention the tires but as soon as they're worn out...find a reasonably priced set of 16s and move up to a 205/55/16 (IIRC that is the stock 16" Turbo tire size).

Also and REALLY trust me on this, add a rear sway bar, you have none!

To stay in budget find a good rear sway bar out of a 2004-2007 turbo (FWD) wagon.
Easy install and the difference is as great as when you go from a turbo car that already has them and then add larger IPD bars, perhaps even more noticeable!!
I do not understand Volvo's old thought processes to delete a rear bar. While soft, they're overly soft and these cars and wagons handle like CRAP!

Thanks Jim. 16" alloys. I think they are "Echos". Tires, I am not so impressed-- Nexen, Classe Premier CP671s , 205/55/16s. Seem squirrely on anything other than bone dry pavement. Not highly rated on TireRack.

Jim, I'd be interested in the rear sway bar if you have it. Difficult install? Any effect on alignment? I should probably drive down and finally meet you after all the help you've given me over the years.

So I think it has the optional water beading coating on the mirrors and side windows which still appears to be working well. Volvo suggests this needs to be refreshed annually and appears to have a special compound for it. Anyone use this? Is it simply RainX on steroids? Is it worth using the special Volvo stuff?

or use glass wax or a glass polish. All work the same way, well.

My 2003 n/a has it (all rusty, by the way) but it's a S60. Perhaps the V70 n/a don't have it. I've heard the V70 have a sloppier drive. I'd surely install one if possible (if subframe holes already there, no interference with exhaust/suspension parts, etc). A used one with good bushings and two new end links should be decent, the bushings on the rear sway bar last much longer than on the front one.

All holes are there. A FWD Volvo has a really odd looking, non symmetrical rear bar but easy to install.
