Hey there, i have a 850 -94 and my remote thing "what´s it now called" don´t work, i can hear a sound from it when i press it. But nothing happens with my car, i have to use my key each time to unlock/lock the car :/ I have also tried sit in the car and reprogram the key, but after turning the key 5 times nothing happens.
Also there is no light on the dash that blinks :/
I been using google and youtube to see if i can fix it, but nothing so far

On the standard remote for the US spec 850s there is no audible nor visual confirmation that the doors have locked or unlocked. Some of the European cars have one of several "Guard" alarm systems but, since you don't have the LED on the dash, I don't think you have one of those. Some of those versions chirp the horn and or flash the parking lights.
The remote keyfob receiver is located next to the glove box, just below the A pillar. It sounds like this car is new to you so you might want to make sure it has a remote receiver and, if it does, that the numbers on the receiver match the numbers on the remote control. There are a couple of variations on the remote that look the same but they have different numbers. They are not mix and match interchangeable between the series.
Here is a picture of the receiver - it is the box with the big upside down letter A on it.

I'd like to add that - depending on what the first owner of your car had ordered - the LED on the dash receiver doesn't necessarily mean that any alarm system is factory installed (as it happens to be with my 850).

I think i have the guard alarm, it´s a car imported from Sweden, but it look slike the previous owner has removed the relay. Gonna remove some thing later today and see if i can find itOzark Lee wrote: ↑19 Dec 2017, 20:12 On the standard remote for the US spec 850s there is no audible nor visual confirmation that the doors have locked or unlocked. All of the 850's should have come with a theft alarm of some sort. The red led on the dash should blink if you lock the car with the key. My car also doesn't have a remote and when I move the key to posII 5 times, I do not get a steady red light. But, if I lock the car with the window rolled down, then reach in and open the car door, the bloody alarm goes off!!
The remote is quite silly as far as I am concerned. Just more space needed in my pocket because all it does is lock/unlock the doors, and I still need the key to start the engine.

If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.

Not necessarily so. My car came with only the immobilizer, no alarm nor remote operated door locks.
For European versions of Volvo, it all depends on which extras were ordered with the car, unlike the fully decked US versions.

Fun fact: if you had brought an 850 2.5-10V on par with the serial equipment of the 2.5-20V in Germany, the price difference had been a measly DM60 (€30) in favour of the 10V. Nonetheless, the 10V was sold here in bigger numbers, and Volvo offered a lot of extra goodies including various stages of alarm devices.
Besides, all pros in the car theft business do know how to disable/override the factory systems - and 99% of the ordinary people don't give a flying fornication on a rolling bagel if the neighbours' car is honking and blinking. If, I would opt for an solution by a company which has specialized in car alarm systems...without blinking LED and stickers on the windows.

I know the car has an alarm and i have the remote, but no light on dash from the alarm and nothing when i lock the key, also nothing happens when i try to reprogram the key
Here is a picture where i think the relay should be placed. Maybe i´m wrong?
It looks like there is an relay there with connections that someone has pulled out, if u look close at the image. Also why has the previous owner put a cables from one spot to another :/

Previous owner might have installed and then removed an after market system? The 850 T5 should have come with a factory alarm.

It´s a T5 i have, sorry forgot to mention that. Yeah it has a factory alarm but it looks like the relay is removed. I guess where the cables are there is supposed to be a relay there instead right? And the cables are there so the car is able to start?
