It could just be it has been sitting for a while. Give it a good run and an oil change and see if it quietens.
Good luck!
Neil.

Someone else also suggested that route. I will probably give that a try tomorrow.
Thanks.

Well, good news. I think. I bought an oil additive...Autozone recommended SeaFoam. I poured in the allotted amount and started the car and the lifter noise was virtually gone. Now, I don't think the SeaFoam did the trick. I think that running the car yesterday and having it go through some thermal cycling probably was the key. Either way, the car sounds much better now and I'm much relieved. I will be test driving it shortly, but don't anticipate any problems. If this doesn't work out, I'll report back. Otherwise, assume this problem is solved.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Seafoam does a good job.

As a final note, I can report that I got this beast out on the road today and it ran very well. I cannot tell you how happy I am to finally get it out of my garage. The garage is now home to the other 99 S70. That one has front end issues. Lower control arms. But I know how to fix those.
Thanks again to all who helped me on this!!!
