2000 V70 driver leg room

Post by Rocket99 »

I like the 2000 V70 XC AWD except the seat does not adjust far enough back.

My 84 mercedes W123 wagon has great driver seat adjustment, all the way back is too far back. Its the only car I've ever had this experience .... ie perfect leg room for best driving.

With close inspection the seat could be removed, metal brackets made to allow it to move back 3 in. or so for perfect position.

Seat bolt in has 4 corners, the Rt rear bolt will be slightly complicated, RF, LF, LR are all simple steel strap drilled to take the normal bolt from the factory.

Has anyone done this and do you have any feedback for me about any tricks of pitfalls you encountered.??

Thx

Nah, I'm only 5'10" I fit fine. For the rt rear, make the bracket and run the bolt from the bracket up Or weld on a stud, and put the nut on the top-side.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I'll probably weld up two paralles surfaces to, reporduce that non level surface X inches behind
1. bolt a weldable steel (2 in, by 2in.) into the normal bolt hole,
2. 3 in. (or 2.5in. ) behind that a second metalic "lug" at that same angle, drilled, tapped

I guess that R rear seat landing my be to resist forward motion in head on?

Thx
