New Thread on Vida/Dice timed out on 12/31/2017

Post by scot850 »

I have been writing on another thread, but there is too much now going on on that thread so I have started a new one in the hope that I can get a resolution on how to update the Patch to get the system working again on Vida 2014A and my other copy of Vida 2012A which is running in VM Ware on XP.

Doublebug gave me a very brief way to do the repair, but I am not tech savvy enough to complete this without more guidance.

I believe I have done the date changes on on the 2 patches, but have no idea how to then introduce the change back into the system too get it back up and running.

I actually have 2 patches for the 2014A version as I had to get help from another member to get it to run first tie around and they added a 2nd patch. No idea which one was used in the end.

This is the other thread:

viewtopic.php?f=40&t=83834

Appreciate any help with this as I do use this a fair amount for part searches and diagnostics on my cars.

Thanks,

Neil.

Did you try the patch from the other thread.
Down loaded 20+ times no complains.
  • Unpack the patch in the VM.
    Start patch.
Make sure it is pointed at C:\
    Install patch.
    Reboot VM
Wait for Vida monitor to green.
    Log into Vida
If this does not work, do a fresh install of the VM and Vida useing the 2099 patch.

Thanks for the input Rick. I am not a computer techie in any shape or form. The 2014A is not running in VM ware, it is running on the laptop in Windows 7 Pro. I had a hell of a time getting it running and spent 4-5 weeks trying to get it going originally and eventually another good citizen here on MVS found a work around in using IE9 as it just would not work in IE8 and Teamviewer.

The Patch icon is still up on my laptop screen and I opened that and sent the patch to C:\ as the target using the updated date in the patch file. I get exactly the same issue where it tries to open and gets so far and then loops back to the login screen.

When I updates the patch files (which I am assuming are the correct ones) I saved them and when opening they have the updated dates. This problem I am having is the same I originally have on the original install of 2014A. I did not have this issue with 2012A which is running in VM ware with XP. However, I can't get the new patch version to work either.

Thanks,

Neil.

The 2099 patch is good. It was used this machine. Which is Windows 10 Pro 64bit, the date on this machine is 1/3/2018, Vida is up and running.

Hang on I found a 2014D RePack that has everything you need to install and get 2014D on Windows 7 Pro & Windows 10 Pro with IE11 installed and it has scripts that do most of the work for you. The problem is the instructions are written in Russian by some guy in Iceland. Some of the translations to English get down right silly, for example: "We recommend the use of silicic acid."

I have worked out how to install it on Windows 10 Pro where Vida never been installed. Tried to install it over a previous install in Windows 7 Pro on another machine. That did not work. I'm going to try it again on a clean install of windows 7 pro in a VM. Most likely will do this a couple of times to come up with a process that works with Windows 7 Pro.

Do you know how to do a torrent download?
Is that Windows 7 Pro machine the only one you have?
There is a good chance your need to do a clean Operating System install to clear out any artifacts from previous Vida installs.

I do have another with Windows 10, but it has a small hard drive as it was only bought for travel and the processor is slow.

This laptop was bought specifically for running Vida on as at the time you needed Windows 7 Pro to run 2014A.

I can probably do a Torrent download but it has been a while.

Appreciate the help very much.
