PS Resevoir Flopping Around

Post by jtp »

The upper clip on the PS Resevoir where it clips into the coolant Resevoir just snapped off. There is evidence of a PS fluid leak around the Resevoir but I’m assuming that’s just from the Resevoir flopping around.

This is a new failure to me, usually I just get the common failures.

My questions are:
1) repair seems straightforward, I just replace the Resevoir and once hooked up bleed air out of the system. Am I missing anything?
2) Is this just 19 year old plastic breaking or the sign of any other issues (coolant tank getting weak and expanding or something)?

Thanks!

Just old plastic in cold weather. You could just wedge it in with foam or a zip tie for a simple repair

Make sure the hoses aren't fouling the serp belt. If you do replace, just tip it to burp air, I don't think there is a bleed procedure but will check

I went ahead and ordered one. It is insanely cold here in the Mideast this year so I can see how that could make it brittle.

I wish they would have kept the 850 design I’m used to. Never had an issue with those reservoirs.
