As a society we have become awfully tolerant of public corruption. We say we don't like it. But it doesn't seem to weigh very heavily in our voting decisions. Because political parties have come to rely on social/identity and ideological positions to stake out their territory and don't seem terribly concerned about calling out corruption within their own ranks. I have no idea how to fix it.

Age old problem dating back to time in the mind. The corrupted are better represented. It is criminals that line the pockets of political scientist, not civil people. It would take a revolution to fix it and the root cause is the same of our first revolution.
Best summed up by: Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.” ― Mark Twain.

I added my statement to this post because I felt it was information some may not have been aware of. It wasn't intended to be satire.mrbrian200 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 23:36As a society we have become awfully tolerant of public corruption. We say we don't like it. Corruption on any level is unacceptable and disgusting. Education and knowledge are the key to overcoming and defeating the hundreds of issues we're all facing as Americans today in our society. That requires involvement and participation of a lot more people seeking the truth and finding other options and solutions. We can vote for whomever we want to, and back anyone we feel is capable and will be our instrument and voice. The standard options historically have been well spoken, well groomed, career politicians. It needn't be that way. A sea change is sorely needed.
This forum is a wonderful model and example (albeit on a smaller scale) of what a limited group of individuals can come together and accomplish through conversation, shared experience, knowledge, common interests and creativity. Imagine the same concept put into action on a large scale.
I'm very grateful to be a participant here, even in the short time and amount of posts I've made.
The original post concerned a thoughtful neighbor passing along some unneeded brake hardware to a member. Its always great to hear about random acts of kindness..
Always first off the line, while all the cool people are still staring at their phones.
