Morning,
I have a 2000 Volvo S80 that I am hoping someone can help me with. Recently the motor was swapped out with a used one cause garage messed up timing belt. I now have an evap code. Looking at the purge valve under the air intake I see no hoses attached to it only the electrical connector. I was hoping someone has, or can take, a picture or diagram of where these hoses should go. Garage told me nothing connects to there I don't believe them. Any help greatly appreciated. Other than difficulty starting after gassing up all else seems nice.

From what I gather yours is not a turbo, therefore your purge valve is located standing in front of vehicle if you remove the intake air assembly not the actual box but just that portion that provides fresh air to the box. Now we are going to use your transmission line upper as a point of reference. right next to that you will see the purge valve!! I will take some pictures of mine and post it. however let me know if you are able to find yours? In addition to that there are two hoses connected, once again let me know if you do?

on the picture the connection that is straight goes to the right side of the intake manifold, removal of the upper manifold required to gain access. the second hose comes from the back where the canister is located. not the wording I wanted to used.

Yes mine is a non turbo, I found the valve and there are no hoses hooked up to it just the electrical connector. Any info or pictures of where I can search for the hoses that need to connect to it would be greatly appreciated. I assume the one from the canister would be routed under the car somewhere.

I want you to do a couple of things, on the actual hood of the car on the left/right side, you will see a diagram, that will indicate to me that the car did have the hoses and it will give you a partial diagram as to the location.
I want you to either take the car where it can be put into a lift, have them let you go underneath and on the right side of the car you will notice that the hose is connected by the or relative near the steering rack (right side). If not I will continue to search literature. last but not least your car when first crank if nothing was put on it, like example plug. it will sound horrible trying to compensate to the amount of air entering the intake manifold. You can use a #10MM and undo all bolts careful not to drop them, easily done and pull up just a bit and turn it upside down to the side, I understand on the upper part of the intake manifold that I am having you remove there are two other hoses; do not disconnect. it saves you a whooping 30 seconds but I rather you carefully just work with it and place it on top of the air filter while you are checking to see what is being used to plug up the hose connector which I am curious. I will promise to have that posted no later than tomorrow morning, nasty flu got the best of me. let me know what you find? best of luck Jake..
