I'm mostly just concerned about my own personal safety. Modern cars just can't be repaired reliably if they're damaged enough. Too many different kinds of steel in the right places and so on.jonesg wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 07:13All the bags in my car blew, serious crash totalled it. I got it after a body guy fixed it.Rattnalle wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 05:37It should break at least partially.Georgeandkira wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 05:29 When a side airbag deploys does it take out a trim strip? I'm thinking the trim won't stay because the gripping ridge has been broken off.
The air bags shouldn't deploy for just a "fender bender" though. I'd never want to fix and drive a car that had the airbags deployed. But each to his own.
Has a salvage title, don't bother me.
I've never sold a car in my life.
Run em til they expire.

I noticed the passenger door is a junkyard part, it probably blew the B pillar too.Rattnalle wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 07:23I'm mostly just concerned about my own personal safety. I don't know how these body guys do it.
My test drive lasted 5 seconds, floored it, felt the turbo boost and said I'll buy it.!
So far it's been good.

I don't doubt that it's fine to drive. But crumpled high strength steel can't be bent back and keep it's strength. So depending on what actually happened to the car the cage around the cabin and or crumple zones might be compromised.

Dont forget to drain out the engine oil when they expire and sell it as 'in-proved lubricant'Georgeandkira wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 13:08 To jonesg: You wrote, "I've never sold a car in my life. Run em til they expire."
