Since I posted I did trans Drain and fill #2 of 3 two days ago car seems to take longer to shift up a gear from 2nd or 3rd by 3-500 RPMs.
No rough shifting, level is spot on and seems to be gradually normalizing (or I’m getting used to it). Actually makes for a better driving experience on the highway.
It’s just interesting because my first drain and fill the car was ice cold and I noticed literally no change. This time the car had probably only been parked for 10 minutes before I had the drain plug out so it was very hot.
Maybe unrelated, just seems draining warmer fluid may have had more impact.

Keep an eye on the level. Hot transmission fluid expands so when you drain 2 quarts for example, that's actually less than 2 quarts of cold fluid. If you do several hot drain and fills without checking the level you may overfill the transmission over time.

I originally thought I had overfilled when I noticed this the day after I did the drain and fill.

I’ll keep my eye on it but fully warmed up it’s just at the top of the hot section every time I check it. Which is the same as after the first drain and fill. I think the system had been a touch low before I started this series. PO had changed ~50K miles ago w/ full syn

I would think more fluid would come out when hot, but when I did my drain & fills, I got pretty much right at 3.5 qt. each time. At least one was cold, only drove the car onto the ramps and let it sit 10 minutes. Another one I had driven the car a little over an hour before, trans was still pretty warm.
Definitely keep an eye on the fluid though. I had to add probably 1/3 of a quart last week. But that's probably due to my axle seal leak more than under-filling.

The rear window in the soft top of my 2002 C70 convertible finally came loose on the outside (it had separated on the inside many years ago) so I have to glue it back in place. After much searching on this and other forums and youtube, I found that, in the US, everyone uses a 3M product that is pretty much unavailable here in Europe. I found a similar product, based on the same technology called Teroson PU 8596 that came in on Saturday. Now I just have to wait for the temperature to stay above 5 degrees Celcius for a couple of hours to apply it. It came with a primer/activator, so I have high hopes for a smooth and permanent solution. Will post the results in a different post.

Update: applied the Teroson glue/kit and so far so good - seems like a really good and tough solution. Its intended use is to bond new front windscreens in modern cars. Hopefully it will hold up in the long term, but I have high hopes.

Took it to the mechanic the other day. They quoted me close to $4k, so I decided to do most of it myself.

Today I tackled:
- New Distributor, Plugs, Wires (which included pulling oil from the spark plug wells - someone once told me to use a pipette. A+ advice there)
- New Intake Cam Seal.
- Pulled my intake to change out the oil trap. Unfortunately, bought the wrong oil trap (I need two hoses on top, this one only has one) so I'm sitting on it until Monday when the parts come in.
- Replaced Thermostat and ETC (fun fact - if you have the intake off for any reason, go ahead and do this. You will feel spoiled by how much extra room there is!)

Cool thing is that this is the third or fourth time I've pulled that intake off, so all of this took me about 3 hours (not including a supply run to grab some hoses that I might need later on) compared to the 6 or 7 the last time I pulled the intake.

Still to come this weekend is the exhaust cam seal (pending a reply to a help post I made on here earlier this evening), then once I get the right oil trap (dumbest Volvo-related thing I've done in awhile), I'll be putting that in, replacing a vacuum line or two, and putting it all back together. All that should take me another 3 or 4 hours.

So 8 hours of my life, plus $150 in parts is going to save me from paying a mechanic $1500 (the rest of the quote was the *other* cam seals and an RMS - two things I do NOT feel confident doing myself right now).

So this was yesterday, but I finished.

>Replaced oil trap (those damn tiny hoses are ridiculous to find - order those first).
>Removed and replaced the intake manifold about four times (remember to hook your EGR back in if you have one. No way to do it once other bolts are tightened)
> Rerouted and replaced some vacuum lines (creative rerouting for the heater hose I used going from the trap to the intake valve. Next time I think I'll order the kit from FCP)

Still have a nasty oil leak, but I am NOT messing with my RMS or the seals behind the timing chain. But at least it runs now. And I slowed down the leak significantly. Now I just need to figure out why my heat won't work.

I was impressed by her ingenuity. She cut those out of some vinyl sticker material and transferred them by hand. I don't know if I would have had the patience to do that.

Wow, that's awesome! Same here, haha, I don't have patience for much!
I think owning a Volvo and a Saab together is contributing to that loss of patience...
