I just went through this on our S80. In our case the rear lift arm was bent so I had to straighten it out. I went with some non-Volvo plastic sliders and found the holes in the center of them to be just an itsy bitsy smaller than OE so the ball fittings on the ends of the lift arms fit too tight. A bit of work with a rat tail file fixed that issue. Also I found it easier to use the better shaped OE retaining clips on the new sliders. (Nothing beats OE for proper fit.) I also found it easier to put the clips on the sliders, put the sliders into the channels, and then “snap” the arms into the sliders.

Oh bad news for me - my front door passenger side speaker sounds blown, was hoping to easily replace it when I finally dig in to investigate why my window on the same door will no longer go down.

How is the process to remove the door panel generally? Should I expect to replace a bunch of clips? I've almost been inclined to leave it alone because I'm afraid I'll never get it back on as tight as it is from the factory.

If you have the multi-use-clips with a round button in the middle they're very easy to remove. The whole process is very easy and very easy to refit with no noticable difference. The panel is clamped tight by the door while driving anyway.

As for the speaker there's a riveted plastic speaker holder in the door. The speaker it self is held by bayonet fitting and a bit of glue. It's quite easy to remove from the plastic speaker holder with a heat gun and some force - especially if you don't mind ruining the speaker. Any 6,5" speaker can then be fitted in it's place. You then need to cut the trim from around the old speaker and replace around the new to keep it snug against the door panel.
