06 S60 R What's this hole in the carpet for?

Post by erikv11 »

Is this just missing a plug that holds the carpet in place? I've looked at a few other S60's and none of them had this hole in front of the passenger seat.

The impression in the carpeting leads me to conclude there was a wide-headed retaining pin (or washer) installed there.
It's for assembly alignment, retention or both.

That what I was thinking too, thanks for the comment. Not likely important in that case. Must have been lost by the previous owners.

I'm also wondering who else has seen it.

I have a hole there too. Same year S60. Looks like an anchor point for an accessory, the table maybe?

Well crap. While trying to figure out exactly what that is, I came across an available accessory I didn't know about before and won't be able to sleep at night until I have it. Luggage compartment bag holders.

Och vad är det här? Ett Volkswagen tillbehör installerat i en Volvo. Människor har ingen skam.

(And what is this? A Volkswagen accessory installed in a Volvo. People have no shame.)

I think I like those better. I might have to troll the VW/Audis at the pick and pull for a couple of those.

I get those too. They can get rather troublesome at times like a president sitting on the crapper with a smartphone.

See my little brew-ha-ha over imagined issues in getting VIDA to install on Windows 10 Home, RichHaleParker later tried and discovered it probably would have worked without all the fuss had I simply just 'tried it'.

Was it June that figured out what that odd plastic knob on the side of the passenger seat headrest is for? If I recall, for the accessory blindfold that your front seat passenger can put on when they're scared by how fast your driving?
