Source for Female 3.5mm pigtail connectors?

Post by sleddriver »

Given how many of these cause problems for all sorts of underhood connectors, I thought there would be an easy to find source here. If so, a search didn't work. These are used on the ECT, ABS sensor, fan relay, cruise control connectors (off the top of my head). The soft vinyl water-resistant shield eventually rots inside the connector thus it's no longer held in place inside the outer housing. You go to plug it in and the outer housing CLICKS, but inside the connectors slide aft and no electrical connection is made.

Someone said the dealer carries these (part number? or name?). I did find ONE source: http://www.240turbo.com/blackvinyl.html#pigtailfemale

Anybody else out there?

I used davebarton.com, the source you listed, successfully. Is there any reason you don't want to use this source? A little pricey, I used a number of bits from there when I built a new harness for my coolant temp sensor, among other things. I also found a bunch @ picnpull and snapped them up, which of course cost virtually nothing. They were surprisingly in ok shape, but I live in a decent climate.

Nothing against DB at all. Interesting I had to search for "Images" to find his site, but was pleased to have found it. PNP is also a great option and I've added them to my "don't leave these behind..." list. I've contacted some auto. electrical suppliers as well. They should know about these. Thanks for the reply.

I've been repairing some connectors this week and I was using Dorman female bullet terminals from Autozone. I had to squeeze the end a little bit to get a tight fit on the male side, but they're working much better than before.
I completely forgot about Dave Barton for connectors, I'll have to order some! I'd rather run factory style connectors than my "rigged" setup.

JP Cycles may also have something similar. These were/are commonly used in motorcycles.

No joy finding something on JP Cycles. Frustrating because I have no bike data to put in. Mouser has yet to figure this out! No luck at local old-school HW store either. However I got to thinking "What about brass tubing?" I picked up some with an ID smaller than the connectors OD, then modified it using a MotoTool. So I made a female connector that holds tight and is easy to solder to since it's brass.

Stopped by indy-shop. He has some with 2' pigtails. Look just like OEM. Pricey though....> $9/ea. I'll go with my made-up connectors/wiring harness and see if the ABS light goes out.
