Trunk closed, but shows open on dashboard. Checked everywhere, but couldn't find door sensor. Anybody had same problem?
Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same car. As it turned out in my case, the latch mechanism had a broken piece inside that operates the light on the dash. It was a tiny spring thing on a pretty flimsy plastic bit.
Unfortunately, it led to the door not closing properly, as the bit bounced around in the lock mech. I had to buy a new complete lock mechanism for about $240.
The good thing is that it was quite easy to replace by myself...I fixed the inside panel/trim (coming off) problem while I was at it.
Hope this helps...
I used the Haynes shop manuel for assistance.

Thanks. Now I have to figure out how to take panel/trim off. The plastic clips came out, but handle in the middle is holding it.
By the way, where I can get these plastic clips to put trim back? I found lots of them missing in my car, and I broke one myself.
Thanks again

The plastic clips are very fragile and so is the panel receptacles for the clips. Volvo sells a little kit to "rebuild" the receptacles and make them stronger and then you just get some new little clips that they have as well.
The handle comes off pretty easily. If I remember correctly...you have it move it up to sort of slide it out, then you slide the panel away so that the lock button sticking out the top is cleared. If you have a second person to assist, its quite easy.
As far as removing the latch/lock meachanism, you basically just disconect the wiring harness and unclip the metal rods (that do all the pushing and pulling). Its a little tricky with these, you have to remember where they go. Maybe take a picture of them before you take it apart.
Then there is 3 (I think) screws that hold the mech. in. (You have to sort of wiggle it out.)
The new one goes in much easier after you've experienced taking the old one out.
The only real difficulty I had was the strained neck I got doing it. If I could have flipped the car on its roof upside down, it would have been easier to work with.
I just bought my V70 in June. The fella I bought it from had put a piece of black tape over that dash light. I didn't notice that. What I did notice was the loose panel. Two months later the hatch wouldnt close properly...
Let me know how it goes!
