Would the shift override problem cause the car to roll free while in reverse / drive?
I'll jump the PNP wires and see what I get.

Thanks for all the great info!

Keep your foot on the brake as you turn the key, the jumper defeats a safety feature and will allow the engine to start with the transmission in gear. I don't recommend driving with the jumper in place. One might end up with higher insurance rates if one forgets.
I got everything cleared away from the pnp switch.
Found the green/red wire on the harness side before the main connector, but there are 2 solid green wires there, one thicker than the other. I was hoping not to cut into the permanent harness if I don't have to.

So I Unwrapped the wires on the switch side, and there is no red/green wire than I can find, only 2 solid green wires.

Is there indeed a jumper under the main fuse box for this?
Or do I need to actually take off the switch and cut into the wires? And it seems under the fuse box both wires are green/red?

Ah, nevermind.

My buddy ordered the PNP switch so we're just going to replace it when it gets here. All the current symptoms seem to point towards it, and he also got the intermittent issue with no starting and Rowing the shifter back and forth fixed it. So we know the switch is on its way out anyway.

Will report back!

Installed the new PNP switch, fired right up!
I didn't find alignment of the switch all that difficult.
I used a big zip tie to line it up and got it first try.

I finally got to drive a turbo 850!
That thing is quick, now I'm gonna have to help my buddy upgrade it and drool the whole time.
I had an s70 N/A and never got to drive a turbo model.
Always wanted one, now I want one even more!

With only 65k we should have fun with this one. 👍
