Can anyone confirm if gear shift knob for automatic transmission from S80 would fit to '97 850?
Part # is Volvo P08636526.
...and it is from U.K market (RHD) Volvo S80 1st generation.

Do you just need the knob or do you want to fit the whole mechanism? I can't recall on the S80, but I don't think the shifter knob will fit a 850 as I think I recall it has a longer shift cable below it.
To remove just the shifter knob to confirm, grip the shift boot just below the bottom of the gear shift knob and twist is 45 degrees turning to the left and it should release and drop down out the way. Then you just need to pull hard upward on the shifter knob which is much easier with the mechanism still in the car! Then is is a simple case of comparing the 2.

I just need the knob, but the one from S80 is more desireable because of the wood on it and i wonder if it would fit my 850.
The other one should be from p80 v70 and should fit perfectly but it doesn't have a wood part on it.
The pictures are from a seller,i just wanted a confirmation to be sure i have the right part.

You can get wood shifter knobs for V/S/C 70's. They turn up at junkyards from time to time here. I have a couple in the garage still )I think) from a V/S 70 that will fit an 850. If you have no luck and aren't in a hurry I can bring one with me to Scotland in late June and ship one to you from there. There are a couple of wood colors, a darker cherry and a slightly lighter walnut. Heck, I have a full wood center console from a V70 and the section around the radio, but don't think those will work on an 850. I'd have to check.

Thank you Scot850,that's very kind of you but just shipping to Serbia would be too much even from U.K.
My 850 have dark wood interior and wooden knob would be perfect match.
Is this black knob from 2nd post from p80 s,v,xc70?

Looks like it is from a 98-00 4 speed auto with the 3 gear ratio options, like an 850. That should fit your car, and under that grime you will find it is likely a dark gray not black.

It looks to me too.
We'll see about color when it arrives.
Where can i see how much can be shipping from UK for that wooden knob you have?
How much you are asking for it?

You would have to try looking on UK Post Office shipping rates. I have checked on Canada Post and best choice is International small packet, but I have a feeling there is no tracking, but it is airmail. Other options are surface and that can take 8+ weeks! I used the following date to estimate on Canada Post website (and that is pretty accurate) was $13.50 CDN. As for the cost of the shift knob I will PM you on that. I think you may be surprised!

Misha, as promised here are a few pictures. Turns out I have 5 wood gearshift knobs! I recall that I only had 2 with good shift buttons on them (one is a new one I had in my stash). 3 have poor buttons, but I now recall that I pulled the plain grey ones with good buttons to transfer over. This plan came about when I found the stupid high price now being charged for these, especially when you live in Canada. With shipping and taxes, one replacement button is at the cheapest (Ebay.com) around $15 US + $20 or more for shipping! I have even seen the button for as high as $40 US! That is crazy when I have seen a new gray shift know complete for $46 US!
Anyway, these are the pictures. 1 of the shift knobs has a slight nick in the wood, the other 4 are good.
4 are the darker cherry color and 1 is what I call burr walnut (so lighter). It is the one in the middle.
The one with a slight nick in it is the 2nd from the right. You can see a small white dot on it. You can see slight color variations in the other 4.
You can see the small nick on the left knob in this picture (4th knob from right of 1st picture)
Anyway promised Misha I would post these for him to see.
