Incompatable Wheels, 1991, 240

Post by Laker »

I'm looking for advice as to whether or not I should attempt to modify 14 inch, aluminum, Volvo 700 series, wheels so that they will fit on my 240. It has been a while since I looked at this, but I recall that the lug holes lined up but the alignment pin prvented the installation. It may be a simple matter of drilling a hole in the proper location on the aluminum wheel... or am i missing something? Thanks in advance. -Laker

Don't go modifying alloy wheels-could be dangerous. It's very easy to unscrew the pin from the rotor, use a 10mm deep socket or 10mm box wrench. I have used the alloy wheels on my 240 and I always use the 240 steel wheels on my 740 with my winter tires. It's easy to hurt the alloy wheels bouncing off a curb while driving on ice.

Good idea and thanks for the reply... I've got 8 of these wheels and I'm glad I'll be able to make use of one set (I'll probably sell/swap the other 4 wheels if anyone is interested).
