I have just encountered a problem with the headlight switch on my '99 S70 AWD. When turned fully right (pointing to the top - headlights on position), the headlights do not operate. If slight pressure is applied to the switch, the headlights do turn on, but go off again when the pressure is removed.
I am going to have a look at the switch, I suspect some contact cleaner may fix it up, but has anyone else experienced this problem ?
When the switch is in the off position (fully left), the headlights do operate (in daytime running mode). However, I can't drive at night at this point.
Will advise if I find a solution. It's difficult to take it to the dealer here, as there is a language barrier.
Cheers,
Mike
Daytime running lights - Switch problem
Once my wife got back...
I found the problem - connector on rear of switch had worked itself loose enough to cause a problem. Once I started playing with the switch, the symptoms changed, so when I finally reached up behind and reseated the connector all was well.
Had another issue today with a tail lamp out -
first thought was check the connector - yep, was loose.
Guess a trip across the Pacific will do that to a car...
Thanks to all who gave this some thought.
