98 volvo v70 vacum line... Need to ID where it needs to go

Post by Volvo_240_Atari_2600 »

Hello,

Recently added a 98 v70 non turbo wagon to our family.

I had to do the high presure was under the hod since the previous owner had an oil leak from the oil filler cap and the top of the emgine was filthy.

In the wash, I blew a black vacum line that had a brittle rubber elbow conector.

Make a long story short is that I have a black vacum line that start from the top vacum lead at the air cleaner box but I cannot trace where this line connects to.

Can anyone please tell me where this goes since I cannt see any empty conectors in any direction to the length of this line.

Thanks in Advance
Eric

Note that in the photo there are two vacum leads... the one on the bottom of the air cleaner box is fine... Need to change the rubber elbow conector but it's connected to where it's supposed to go. It's the one coming off from the top of the air filter box that I have no clue as to where it needs to go.

Thanks

Look on the underside of the accordion hose that goes from the air box down to the turbo...there's a nipple there that this white hose connects to.

MIJ...
Thanks for the reply but I'm afraid that's not my case.
My car is not Turbo so I don't know if there is a major diference there.. perhaps yes and perhaps not...

The white hose in the photo is connected... If you are facing the engine from the drivers side you are in full view of the distributor... Just to the left of the distributor is a black plastic cover and bellow that cover is where the white line connects to and it is conected, however it is a black vacum line/hose that as you can see from the photo of the air filter box has an exposed metalic lead/nipple where the black vacum was connected to and that is just above the one on the bottom where the white line is conetcted to.

My question is where does this black line connect to as I tried every optional direction of the length of that line and I cannot locate a conector for it.

What am I not seeing under there?

Thanks

Not so familiar with non-turbo's but look just past the MAF sensor towards the intake and on the underside of that accordion hose (before the accordions begin) you should find a small nipple. You might have to feel for it. I'm pretty sure it's there.

Eric,

I have a 96 N/A 850, and I have this hose on my airbox as well. It appears that my car's airbox thermostat is controlled by this black line. The port that the black line goes to is right above the cold air inlet pipe coming from the grill area. It is almost impossible to see or get to without removing the cold air inlet pipe.

In addition, went to the dealer to get the strange looking 90 degree elbow that went to the airbox, and it cannot be purchased speperately from a new airbox, go figure.

Not sure why my 96 has this type of aribox thermostat?

Good Luck
