Realigning Sunroof / Leaking

Post by WhatAmIDoing »

I know I've seen a topic for manually realigning the sunroof so that it seats properly, but I can't seem to find it. My sunroof stopped working a long time ago. I have an S70, so I do not have the emergency crank via screwdriver on the motor. The front edge of the sunroof sits a couple centimeters above the roof line, while the back sits about a cm below. After years of driving, it appears the sunroof has worked its way slightly open and is now leaking when it rains hard. I've tried pulling the motor, but still cannot man-handle the sunroof back into fully closed. How can I get the sunroof closed properly and aligned correctly with the roof?

I have already siliconed the inside of the seal where it meets the glass, as described by Robert. Water is still leaking in around all 4 corners of the sunroof.

Here are some pics of the outside of the sunroof.

Theoretically the water should leak into the catch tray and then drain away through the 4 drain tubes (x1 each corner). Problem is you can't check the drains easily when the sunroof doesn't open. The drain hoses can and do split at the corners and will give you a bath. Finally the leak I thought I had was the windshield seal had failed along the top corner allowing water to leak into the roof.
