Ready mount struts.
Ready mount struts.
getting alot of clanking noise from the front passenger tire on bumps, and found bouth my front strut mounts torn. I want to replace these to get rid of noise and better ride. Has anyone used the Gabriel Ready mount struts all in one. Im looking at them and they look like they would be so much easier and cost 125.00 a piece. This is for a 1998 S70 2.4 GLT

They are definitely much easier to install.
I am still averse to these but people have been trying them for a few years now and they seem to last OK. The struts will of course last fine, the problem will be if the low cost spring seats break again - strut mounts and spring seats are always the weakest link in the quick strut packages. Also consider the ride quality, but that's more about preference.
theWIFES_S70 has those I think, hopefully he will chime in.

I have used them. They are ok. I have 250K miles with original rear (auto level) shocks on my car. Replaced front struts because of broken spring mount. Strut post was hitting hood. The ride of my 98 v70xc is pretty good. But I really don't know how much better it could be. My 300sd (1985) rides, like no other car, with 350k miles, with sack's shocks replaced all around 50k miles ago.
For a car with over 200k (at replacement) , that is not worth that much. I went the cheap and easy route. I have over 15k or more on the gabriel shocks. the mounts seem to be holding up fine.

I know its not a Volvo but I've used these on a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4WD
which I commute 120 miles a day with
and there great, I've put about 25k on
them since install. Install on your S70
very easy. Good luck with what you ever choose.

I've gotten about 20K miles from them over the course of almost 4 years. A LOT of city driving a few 1K drives. They've been fine. FYI: I drive slow. Don't take offramps at 100MPH, etc.erikv11 wrote: ↑21 Aug 2018, 15:40 They are definitely much easier to install.

No crazy sounds or creaks. They made the front end MUCH tighter than on the original sloppy ones. They raise your front end so you'll need to replace your rear springs or just ignore the front ride height. (Threw in some new Napa springs from eBay and now the car sits right now.)
For the price, they really can't be beat. I paid $180 for each from Autozone and, I believe, they're lifetime warranty so AZ would have to replace them... Haven't tried though.
