Make sure your dash HVAC controls are correctly set: both heat/cool dials all the way to cool; recirculate switch on; on/off switch should be "on" position (LED out).

Also, there are 2 relays under the dash, on the HVAC unit; either could be bad. If your a/c clutch is set right and your system is properly charged, and you can jump the compressor so you know that it works, then your in-cabin controls like I describe above would be suspect.

The 2 relays are kind of expensive, worth a trip to the junk yard if you have one nearby. I don't think they're have a high failure rate, so junk yard finds are likely to be okay.

OK Thanks will get it done was trying to do it in driveway, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Maybe I should get the equipment I am not afraid just not educated.

The problem is i tried the ac pro like i did on my 97 and it just pegged the gauge . So I went out and got the proper tools, gauges, vacuum pump but the high side needs an acme fitting? I want to evacuate the system and start from scratch with some dye. The only other thing I was thinking of trying is AC pro and keep unplugging the pressure sensor to get the compressor to suck in the refrigerant.

Update sorry it only draws from the battery I thought it was catching but no luck. So I removed it but one of the brackets would not come free and broke the bracket and I think it's part of the alternator assembly, went on volvo web store could not see this bracket. It ties the alternator and A/C together. Any hints part numbers or I will bring it down to the stealership.

Its a cinch on a rescue P80 Volvo the evaporator is rusted out - especially in climaty New England.

Its about 10 hours to get the dash out and replace it, and about $300 in parts.

Then you get a dreamy high end climate system.

If you try the $15 bottle of sealer first, the job will escalate to $1015 in parts
