I wonder the lifespan of a Clutch Pulley (not the solid pulley but pulley with a clutch built in it).
Does anyone know?
I understand that I can buy an INA Clutch Pulley for about $30...but...

Should I replace the whole alternator at ____ miles?

If you start listening to all your appliances at about150k with a stethoscope or tygon hose , you w I’ll hear the chirp chirp chirp of dry bearings or other detritus.

Chirping is surely the (last) warning, it's already late by then and the belt can also start smoking, but hey, we are not always aware of these things... back in the days I was driving a Passat with a chirping aux belt tensioner pulley, chirping chirping yet not carrying, went like this on a journey to NYC (from Montreal), back in town, drove for another few days then while in the city suddenly the engine started to overheat - popped the hood and noticed there was no longer an aux belt on it ( ). Let the thing cool down then drove it home on battery watching the needle/stopping as needed. So if that would have happened while in the US that would have been a bus thicket back home and a 120k miles Passat generously donated to the side of the road/birds/marmots, etc.

I still turn my eyes when I hear a car chirping nowadays, kinda want to warn that lady driving it

My CVVT growled for 10000-20000 miles before I finally got to it but it did suddenly get louder the week I did

My T4 Transporter has been running great for 50,o00 miles but just told me that the plugs running at 0.042 inch gap isn’t the best for it, either
