Another one of my favorites as far as Harbor Freight stuff, I recently picked up a 1/4" Pittsburgh Pro slim head ratchet because my Craftsman 75 tooth began seizing up (6 months old!) and I'm glad I did! It's incredibly smooth and built really well. It holds sockets nice and tight and the length of the handle is perfect. Their pro series (red/black comfort grip) ratchets are some of their best tools. It's definitely my new favorite 1/4" ratchet!
My only complaint is the directional switch is very easy to move, which could be problematic in tight spaces when it could knock against something. It sticks out too much, which I don't like. At least they made it so it swings further up in either direction to avoid accidental movement (something they don't do with their quick release chrome ratchets) but it only does so much. The switches on my Duralast ratchets are much better.

Why is "Tool #4" in the Volvo timing tool kit needed? They press against the valve springs so the cam cover goes down square?

Ratchets that reverse direction because of a poorly designed switch are the worst.

Yes, to help it go down evenly. I also suspect it makes things a bit easier on all the cam cover bolts if you aren't actually relying on them to push the cam cover and valve springs down. I didn't have this when I did my cam cover jobs, so I just relied on the bolts to do the pulling together, but I would have rather used it.

Yes #4 works against the valve springs and lifters.
1. Holds the cam cover true to the head.
2. Spreads the liquid gasket evenly.
3. Locks the O-rings in place.
4. Vertically aligns the holes in the head with the holes in the cam cover, minimizing the odds of cross threading.
5. Facilitates even torquing of the bolts across the cam cover.

If you install the cams to the cover using #2 & #3, the valve springs and lifters pressure against the cams and cover is at the minimum and the camshafts are aligned. Do this with the crankshaft aligned and you need not worry about bolting down the cam cover with the timing in an interference condition. Everything will go together aligned and in time.

Low profile ratchet from HF.
It fits where most dont.
Not comfortable in the hand but a blessing when you gotta have it.
Both 1/4 and 3/8th ends, flex head, button release.

I've heard good things about that low profile ratchet. A HF gem. That's one I'd like to get at some point.
