Thanks very much..I get what you are saying about quality vs quantity I agreen there....have good speakers..and usign the dash speakers would only 'contaminate" the nice sound piped in with the speakers I put in.

I get what you mean about image quality I think....make sense so far.

SO there really isn't anything that goes in those dash speakers then?? I would have thought some company would have made small speakers of some sort to go in inside there.

I read CDT web site, and I was pretty impressed..and read around some more tonight..they seem like a great speaker for the cost..I am really surprised. I looked at those braxials..wow..that's amazing..too pricey for me I think....The ones you recommended for me..look great in terms of price and size..Hopefullly I have a dealer that sells them....I only have 5 places in town that do car audio..eeshh...

I really appreciate your help...Iwill come back w/more questions after I call around and ask about speakers at my local dealers....

I am always worried what sounds good in the store..won't sound as good once installed...

HEY ONE LAST QUESTION...you know how the speakers in the door of the 850 are mounted, that is...when you close the door, part of the grill goes up against the dash...Do you know if I will lose a lot of sound that way...OR if the speaker can be mounted to project diagonally a bit towards the grille portion that is exposed when the door is closed...

if you don't know what I mean...thta's OK...It just seems like an odd design or a design flaw that Volvo did....let me know what you think...thanks.SO MUCH

yeah, I know what you mean about mounting. The solution is pretty easy:

If using a component, midbass can fire forward just fine, and aim the tweeter properly and you'll be good to go

If using a coaxial, the tweeter is usually mounted on a ball-joint, so it can be properly angled.

Hey man,

On that JL 125W monoblock amp...I couldn't find such a unit. Meaning did you type in the wrong wattage???

Second..no one around here sells the CDTs..so I can't listen to them..eeesh..

The car audio places have Pile, Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine, Sony and a couple of others that I can't recall off the top of my head. There is a store that carries the JLW0 sub you mentioned..they also mentioned they have last years model on the MBQuart sub..but I am still not sure about getting a sub anyway.

Pile : Double-Crap
Kenwood : Crap
Pioneer : Decent
Alpine : Great
Sony : Crap

the amp I was refering to was the e1200. Here's a link to JL's website : http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/e1200.html

I've got one that I bench tested to 138.24 Watts RMS @ 4ohm. So they do put out *at least* their specs.

CDT isn't carried in too many stores, but it's used by a lot of competitors. Here's the list of authorized dealers. http://www.cdtaudio.com/authdealers.htm I order online because it's easier for me -- and I know what their gear sounds like. I understand it would be difficult to order something you haven't heard, so it may be best for you to stick with what you can get localy.
