Factory sat nav

I’ve been having problems with the factory sat nav for years now in my 2003 XC90 and tried numerous fixes. I keep getting a message saying that the disc cannot be read.

So I’ve tried a secondhand set of discs and another disc reader, but no change. Checking in the diagnostics though I can see that the system is seeing enough satellites and knows exactly where the car is.

I recently bought a reader from a later 07 model with a hard drive. All seemed to be working until I realised that it can’t see any satellites. None.

Checked old unit again and it can see 8.

So, does anyone know whether I can change settings so that the hd reader can work with the existing satellite receiver system?
