I have radio reception problem coming from my radio.

As per a Volvo dealer, this comes from the radion and not the antenna. He has suggest me to pull out the radio and sent it to a radio service store or to replace it.

I would try to do that by myself and replace also the internal light bulb.

Before going ahead, I would appreciate recommendations.

Find out the price first, Andre. I am unsure if you absolutely wish to keep the factory original or not, But I hate to even imagine what Volvo is asking for a new factory radio. I found my reception to be below average by todays standards ('93 850) so I was considering adding the Volvo cd changer to mine. I had just a am/fm cassette. When the dealer told me $900.00, I literally asked him if he was nuts. He said he could let me have it for $700.00. I told him he was still nuts. Mind you, this is Canadian dollars, but I am willing to bet in US dollars it is around $400-$450. If repair is anything over $150, I would not even bother myself. This is only because any electronic item I ever had repaired never seemed to last long. Maybe it is my own bad luck...so if you have faith in repairs, go for it.

I purchased a new Alpine cd player (plays mp3s) and a new Alpine cd changer (6 disc also plays mp3s) for $1000.00 installed...again, in Canadian dollars. It blows the factory system away and if I trade in, I just yank it out and stick the factory radio back in.

Oh yes...FYI....if you don't have a cd changer in your Volvo, and ever wish to add one while keeping the factory radio, go to an Alpine dealer. Volvo system are, from my undertanding, made by Alpine. It makes sense to me because Alpine is the only changer I could find that would hook to a Volvo radio. All that is required is an adapter that is put between the Alpine changer cable and the volvo radio cable....none of this fm adaptor crap.
