2001 v70 mice ate fuel line!

Post by chrisobics »

I have a 2001 Volvo v70 non turbo and discovered a massive fuel leak. mice or squirrels ate my fuel pressure and return line. the problem is right between the long plastic clipon holder and the engine. I fixed the pressure line but I'm not sure what is missing on the return line. one side is chewed and the other side is not. there is about 3 inches missing. I have looked at every parts diagram I can find and cannot see clearly what should be there. does anyone have a picture or maybe has the same car and can tell me what is missing?

You should be able to bond something in there, with the right pressure rating of course.

And you need a cat,

Here’s my fuel line protector ...

it actually does not leak fuel. The part that concerns me is there is about 3 inches missing and one side is untouched, meaning there was something attached to it which is gone. I am about to give this car to my sister and I do not want here to have any trouble.

There's no liquid pressure return line on these, the pump is variable speed/output and controlled by the ECM/PEM.
That's your evap vapor line. Just join the two tubes together with fuel tolerant hose/barb type connectors and hose clamps. I would use fuel rated RTV on barb connectors, especially on the hard plastic pipe to make sure anything you join together is airtight. Otherwise sooner or later you may get the dreaded EVAP small system leak DTC/check engine light.

Nice catch Mr Brian!

I missed that. There is no way that barbed connector is stock though, I would guess some one damaged this on a lift or jack and cobbled that back together. Have you had the car serviced at a garage where the techs have tails?

The Evap can be easily fixed with hose, that fuel line is more complicated

no I did that myself. that line was also damaged by the nice or squirrels. according to S.U.R.R. this is how to repair plastic lines. They are a company that specializes in fuel and brake lines.
