In swapping batteries, I managed to lock the radio - the display reads OFF.
I now have what should be the correct 6 digit code.
I tried to follow the procedure in the manual, leaving the radio connected for at least one hour.
So far, I can't reset the radio to enter the security code.
As I understand the manual, I am supposed to leave the radio connected, meaning the battery connected, the ignition off and the radio knob turned off, for at least one hour.
After seeing the CODE message, I enter the code then press the AU button (above the CD button).
If I am missing a step or if there is a better process, I would appreciate any and all help.

Yes, I may have entered the wrong info enough times that the radio is locked. However, the OFF message should be resettable, according to the manual.
What is your source of information to indicate that it is not resettable?

personal experience. If you enter it enough times (between 3-5) then you will lock the radio... That's the point of the code. Once locked out, you'd need to at least send the existing unit back to the factory to have certain components replaced. You'll find it much more cost-effective to use an aftermarket unit, if this is the case.
Take it to the dealer, and see what they say.
Biut if you have locked it out, then you will basically need a new unit.
