Hello everyone,
This message came up on thd dash after I went through a deep ford.
It has never gone away, but is now annoying me.
My local dealer could not detect the fault but I suspect that it may be a corroded/connector in the diff ?
Any ideas?
Steve

What is a deep ford? A deep puddle? By the way, I'm glad Tarzan is alive and doing well
As above, rather start with the smaller and easier items. Reluctors are prone to develop a small crack if the cv joint housing is rusted.
One of the expensive possibilities is the DEM issue, which can still be repaired by Xemodex or some Ebay repair service.

Deep.
That reminds me - sort of related - my son recently stuffed his Land Rover LR3 into some deep clay goo, up to the frame. Thick sticky muck. He was pretty sure they'd find him in the spring when the snow melts.
But that thing just dug it's way back out. He had it up to full rock height with the air springs. Got himself back on the road.....BUT, all the suspension sensors up in the wheel wells were caked in this stuff and it confused the computer and it wanted to go into limp mode. He fussed with it a bit and got it home and gave it a good scrubbing / scraping with putty knives etc.
Isn't that funny that something designed to get you out of those places gets covered in mud and doesn't want to work?

A deep Ford is when you drive your Chevy to the levee and it isn’t dry,,,
I’ll wager an ABS sensor got wet and is making a poor connection

To be fair that's only the Defender. Designed for those places that is. The others are for driving around the estate shooting geese or driving the kids to cricket practice.

Haha! Nice.
The LR3 is an amazingly capable package. (I realize most of them commute in the suburbs) Bulletproof Jaguar V8, modified with a crazy deep oil sump design such that it maintains full oil pressure at over 45º sidehill or fore & aft, and a cooling system that can run the air conditioning in the desert while climbing at a crawl and never overheat. It'll go through 30" of water. If the suspension's set at rock height and gets high centered, there's a secret button that raises it another inch temporarily to get you off the rock.
Couple of random videos I found that show the crazy climbing ability. (RR Sport is just an LR3 underneath the metal). Look at the LR3 guy at the end stop, then start climbing again on a very steep face. (disregard music)

Is the first video at 0:15 how do those tires not even slide back on the rock ? Because of the angle, the amount of friction must be less than 10% of what it is with the car at level

When the front tires try to lift up on a 6000lb car, that's way too steep. And what's the point - I feel like you have something capable so you can get to places and do something and see amazing things, not for the sport of scraping up cliffs and crawling over rocks. I don't really "get" off-roading. I get going to places that take too many days to hike in to, or getting home on a rutted muddy road. An XC wagon / Soob Crosstrek / Audi quattro will go most places most people need to get to in snow mud steep.

You don’t get communing with nature, rutting up the earth, spewing hydrocarbons, chasing off wildlife for 10 km, and blasting Taylor Swift?
