850 Seat wiring; swap 97 to 96 Topic is solved

Hi all,

Donor car is a 97 850 T sedan. I took the power seats out and put them in my 96 GLT sedan which had a manual seat on the passenger side. All the wires and plugs are the same in both cars. they both worked in the donor car but now only the drivers seat works in the 96. I looked at the configuration and wire colors on the passenger side 96 and the wires I unplugged from the seat in the 97 are identical. Both cars have 3 wires on plug 1; Black, Green, Brown. Both cars have 3 wires on plug 2; green w/ brown stripe, Black, Black w white stripe that includes a jumper wire from it to a 4th terminal on same plug. What am I missing?

Check the fuse box for an empty breaker slot. I'm pretty sure they don't install the breaker if the power seat isn't there.

Hi Lee, thanks for the answer. I looked and all fuses are there, also no power seat on the list. Is it a relay under the cover held by 4 torx screws?

Yes, you need to remove the cover to get to the breakers. I think there are two on both sides below the cover but I haven't looked in a while.

Bingo. Missing breaker. Installed it from donor car and all is well.
