Well.

I guess I did a thing. I decided to take care of a bit of rust on the hood. There was really nothing that matched the paint on the hood to my satisfaction (plus some clear coat fading near the wiper nozzles)
I said screw it and just used plasti dip and made it black for now.
Don't judge me

I like the commitment. No judging here since the twins detailed by hood paint with a metal edge snow shovel which I fix with Sharpie.

There is a PPG Paint in your area. Take the paint code to them and have them mix you some.
They can package it in a spray can. The last can I got from PPG cost ~$20.00 for 11 OZ.

You could just keep it the way it is and make it YOUR car.

Oh I guess I missed a sentence there.
I got a specific can mixed up at a paint store with my paint code. Despite doing that, I guess it was more of matching the new paint with the 20 year old paint on the car, it stood out too much for me

Most likely the paint does match. It is the top coat optics that is different. Twenty years of exposure will dull the optics. A wet sand and polish would bring the old paint back to life.

If you don't know how to wet sand and polish without messing up the paint, try cleaning the old paint with a clay bar.

Farmed out my tie rod ends and FWA

I had a look at the tie rod and it was frozen, trip to BOS tomorrow, managed to drop car at local indie, wcm picked me up, and had car back by noon with two new tie rods and FWA for $90.


Have to say, it was worth it.

Follow up on this

When I did my lower control arms and ball joints I checked my rack and tie rods for play and detected none.

A few thousand miles later, on a whim, I had the outer tie rods replaced and the steering and handling are noticeably tighter. This car get smooth highway miles so I was fooled into thinking that the tie rods could be maintained by inspection , but I need fact they were worn out. I’ll have to check records but they certainly have 100k on them, and they might be original at 220k

Went for a haircut and found their latest handiwork. I'm curious to see how long it sticks around. (Pun intended.)

Reregistered it Renewed the tag basically.
Drove it.
Destickered it.
Cleaned out the inside and took it to one of those self wash places to just spray it off really.

Tomorrow night it goes in the garage to start getting more upgrades.
Larger fuel pump, 800cc injectors, new tune with COP, a Water Meth system, annnnndddddd a train horn... lmao.
