Tcm issues help me out

Post by tyronekndrck »

I swap the tcm from salvage yard in my 01 s60 2.4t with one with exact model#. I'm not getting limp mode notification in Dash but I believe I'm in limp mode as the car takes off super slow and kinda hesitates but does get up to speed. I'm getting p1631 (theft deterant code) but my car starts fine. Also when I change gears park, neutral, reverse etc. It doesn't indicate what gear I'm in on the dash like before tcm swap. Reason I swap the tcm is because my trans wouldn't shift at all and a mechanic stated I might need transmission sensors. So I swap sensors and tcm from junk yard and turns out all I needed was the sensors. The problem is my original tcm was given to salvage yard as a core. So my question is does this tcm have to be reprogramed? Can it be don't via Vida

Both part number and software have to match but there are fewer issues than ECM usually

Henry can reprogram it for about $100 but I think he needs your original to clone.

Henry has a database of ECM & TCM numbers from other cars.

He can make an educated guess to what firmware version is required from your ECM firmware version. Get a Dice then load USB drivers then contact Henry or Sergey in California. You don't need to install Vida software unless you really want to.

Henry, User name doublebug, can do it over the internet but, you do need a DiCE unit on your end.

Make sure you get a Full Chip DiCE unit that has a J2534 interface that can do programing.

The sellers of these wouldn't know if they're JS2534 capable devices.

Look for good feedback and lots of it.

They do advertise them as Full Dice board or full clone boards.

Stay away from Dice Pro as one of them plugged into my Vida was recognised as this "5&2544xxx" device instead of DiCE-206751

The traditional grey and black plastic casing has the most authentic copy of the real deal.

There are a few sellers that do know what they have. The seller I got mine from was also the manufacturer. They where real specific about it being based on the original design, Full Chip set and J2534. Hardware is real good, the software is another story, it was infected. Which is one reason I advise people to toss the software that comes with the DiCE unit and get a copy of 2014D RU EN RePack 07.10.2016.

"4. Our Vida Dice scan tool is used together with VIDA all-in-one to communicate with the vehicle. WE DO NOT SELL STUPID VIDA DICE which resvised from J2534, because that do NOT supports full functions and update."

In that case Rick feel free to give them a plug :)

I don't think anyone here will object if you do in the Dice and tools section and we'll have trusted source.

Afew years ago I sold afew Dice units from a seller in Shenzen China. I bought my own unit from them and decided to advertise them locally in Oz.
They shipped quickly by DHL and landed in no more than 10 days. All of them worked and I had zero returns except one guy who thought he was getting legitimate software with full license which I didn't claim in the first place. I got tired of providing support for the install though one guy and I became friends after I personally installed Vida for him and now we share tools.

Later I sold the Autel EU-702s but again there were too many support issues and guys with unusual years in terms of OBDII protocol in Mercedes Benzes. Also I needed to supply adapters for half of them. Scanners have come a long way since then. I just purchased an Autel AL-619 and it can actually read the VIN on my P2 as well as read and clear ABS and SRS after an update.
