I hear you on the overhead support. My seller has a 98% Positive feedback but if you look through the negatives. Most of it is people that cannot figure out how to extract 6+ GB of compressed data off a 4GB DVD.

To anybody reading this: If you are willing to wait for the shipment to come from Shenzhen,Guangdong, China the seller is ecuspec.

As I have said before, the hardware is good, I have use it to change programmable setting on my S40. However don't expect the software to be the best. Get and use the 2014D_RePack instead.

Will any of these do the job? As soon as I get off work I'm gonna do a ton of research on this stuff. Is Vida dice a stand alone tool/scanner that you control via laptop or does it come in handheld also. Just a little confused

Dice is run from a program called Vida which runs on Windows operating system.

Where Henry or Sergey is concerned they only need the Dice to be connected to the laptop's USB port and the other end of the Dice plugged into your OBDII port. They can use Team Viewer to remote in, provide any drivers needed and load his "Handler" software on the laptop. They will ask for Key in PosII or other requests such as battery disconnect on Team Viewer chat or by Skype or Viber.

No: you need a DiCE to do this. An Autel will not cut it.

DiCE clones are not all created equal. We are trying to point you toward a good one. Unless you got deep pockets, your going to get a clone. A genuine Volvo DiCE would cost you $1300 -$1800 depending on where you source it.

DiCE (Diagnostic Communication Equipment) is the hardware that connects the car to the computer.
VIDA (Vehicle Information and Diagnostics for Aftersales) is software that contains scanner software and information about the car ... like a service manual.

Henry or Sergey would only need you to have a DiCE and some software other then VIDA, as Precopster listed. Henry or Sergey will have VIDA on their end and connect their VIDA to your DiCE over the internet. When this is going on they will have a live communication channel open with you so they can instruct you to do things that need to be done on your end.

If you want to, you can install VIDA on your computer and we do recommend you do. We show you where to get it, how to install it and solve any problems you may encounter. I only ask one thing, you install the 2014D_RePack. The RePack has a lot less problems they any other VIDA distro that I know of.

One thing you will not be able to do with VIDA on your computer is upgrade or change a control module's software because, you cannot get your hands on a copy of the control module software. That is where the other guys come in.

Thanks so much for the info but I didn't realize it cost that much. Any cheaper alternative like sending the tcm out to someone.

One of the guys on MVS pointed me to Dice/Vida selling at Walmart for $71

What's the world coming to??

You would need to send the ECM out with the TCM so they can be paired correctly. Sergey in California could do this. MVS user Yagger
