Is window glass weatherstrip supposed to be glued on?

Is the weatherstrip on the side of the window glass supposed to be glued in place? See the photo below - a portion of it has come loose from the metal rail.

PS The “feels like” temp is 18F and I’m out in the driveway fixing the window for the second year in a row. *shiver*

no, that channel rubber is the track the glass goes down into when you roll window down. It's job is to cushion the glass if you close door with window rolled down. You could glue it in if you want. Has it been coming out of the metal track?

Yes, you can see here that it's popped out of the bottom of the metal track. If that's normal then I'm ok with it, I'm just making sure it's not something that would impede the efficient operation of the window mechanism.

Mine did the same thing as yours has.It made the window squeak when raising and lowering when it's hot outside.I glued it back into the track with contact cement.3M I think it was.Not real easy to do.The contact cement has to go on both surfaces and cure for a while before you mate them back together.I used very small clamps to hold the rubber in the track.I let it cure all day when it was hot and dry outside.Next day I lubed the inside of the rubber with some very fancy and expensive stuff called Krytox.That fixed the issue for good I hope.That was 2years ago and so far all is good with it.While ya have the door panel off,it's a good time to replace the blue plastic block sliders.Put Krytox on the sliders too.My windows work like new.Fast and quiet.
