It was a Volvo V90 T4 Racing and sweet baby Jesus, sometimes it was just scary to drive (so damn FAST). I'm a tall guy (2.05 m) but it was the first time EVER I had to place the seat forward in a car. I drove for a good hour before I reached my destination and it was just lovely. And a massage function in the front seats... praise those Swedish guys.
Very nice! I checked out the V90 at the auto show here in Charlotte last week, and it's just a beautiful car. Very comfortable too, but it's a Volvo, so I wasn't surprised! I didn't even realize the non-XC V90 was available in the states without special order (last I read), but I guess it is.
The one thing I really don't like (aside from the fact that all new Volvos use the same 2.0 turbo or twin charged 4 cylinders) is that big infotainment screen. I'm 20 years old and couldn't even figure out how to use the damn thing. When your target market for all this the tech can't even figure it out, maybe there's a problem! I'd love to be able to option it with a standard radio. Maybe I'd just swap an SC-901 into it, they sound great in my two P80s!
I'd have to drive the car to really judge the engine, though. I really wish they just developed a new 5 cylinder, but I guess the market doesn't care, and the 4 cylinder makes more sense with their "green" outlook now. It's a sad time for the internal combustion engine...

I also checked out the new S60... it uses the same beautiful design cues of the S90, but with better proportions (to me at least, I prefer smaller cars). Everything just falls into place much better.

The target market is closer to 40 than 20 for these cars.

I've only driven the new V60 and didn't touch the infotainment much during the drive but as far as navigation went I prefer my phone with Google maps clipped to the vent.

That S60 is gorgeous. I've always loved small cars, too, hatchbacks specifically for their ability to haul stuff. Even my old Mini Cooper was great at this. I'd love to see a two-seater Volvo like the ones they produced ages ago.

Clipping a phone to the vent is my preferred navigation system, too. At least if I can't find my road atlas. I'm so uninterested in large-screen dash displays, unless they provide data from every sensor in real time. Kind of like in "The Matrix."

I've always liked the C30. A nice manual T5 R-design would be pretty cool!
A GTI would be pretty cool too. After driving my Miata I eventually want to find something a little bigger (I'm 6'2", it's a little tight in there with the stock seat and steering wheel!) and more practical that can handle almost as well. That Miata is the absolute best car I've ever driven... it's a blast on curvy, hilly back roads!

Yeah, I was referring to the technology, though. The cars definitely aren't geared towards people in their 20s. Maybe the XC40 and their new "care by Volvo" subscription service, but as a gearhead myself I would never even consider anything like that. I like my older Volvos!

I agree though with the phone navigation. With everything that you can use for your phone for (diagnostics, navigation, etc.) I don't see any need for the infotainment.

Today I payed a local shop to replace/repair the PCV system on my 850 GLT and realized that I have exceeded the price in repairs that I paid for it only a year and a half ago and still haven't fixed what I knew was wrong with it from day one. But, oh, I love driving it and look forward to the day when I can really throw it at some of the twisty roads in my little corner of the world. I'll have to save some more $$$ because the labor rate at the shop is now $100.00 per hour, wow.

I guess with 8 speeds on the AT now they need the extra space for all those clutch packs. Say goodbye to the 5 and hello to the blown 4s....just doesn't sit right with me though......😐

YIKES, realized I have put 4000 miles on the T5 in 5 weeks

That means moon post beforeChristmas and probably up for sale in summer

That could also be a possibility... I'm sure the transmission is physically larger than an older 6 speed.
I feel the same way though... I can't say much for how the engines perform since I've never driven one, but the fact that they use the same few variations of one powertrain in all of their cars just hurts the character of the car. That along with all of the Tesla-esque technology (from the infotainment system to the hybrid technology) just makes it a car... and nothing more. It's just a mode of transportation. And their "Care by Volvo" subscription service makes it feel like they care even less about someone buying one of their cars to truly enjoy it. It feels like Volvo lost their charm.

I'll stick with my bricks!
