Did it work for you? I got the aftermarket equivalent https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... -9151343-1 but it still left far too much of a gap to provide any pressure. I tried clear silicone to hold them in place, to no avail.
Brunocerous,

That is the exact part I used.

When I first put it is, I too had a gap and wondered what I did wrong. My issue was that I tried putting in the bottom of the light first and then tried snapping it in place on the spring side. That left me with a gap of about 1/8 inch all around.

Here's what I did that worked.

First, note the notch where it sits on the edge of the door opening.

I then put the light in spring side up and made it flush with door.

After that I used 3 movements to get the light installed and flush:
1) press up slightly to compress spring
2) rotate light into sot in door and make bottom of light flush.
3) press down to engage notch and decompress spring a bit.

Light is now flush

Found a dark spot on the driveway this morning and the coolant overflow tank on the '98 V70 back down to minimum. Opened the timing cover to check the water pump, which was OK, but saw some dampness on this pulley (in the mirror).

Topped off the coolant and crossed my fingers.

Who checks their driveway at 0230?

See that white stuff on the hose to the reservoir? You might have a pinhole coming down on the TB tensioner, but I would guess the water pump is seeping and throwing it up, since it is under the cover.

If the water pump is seeping, it is getting lubricated so if you can live with the coolant loss, you can put this one off until Spring.

Good eye, I wouldn't doubt that's where the coolant loss if coming from! You can also see it on the wiring harness cover just above that hose.

Insomnia is a pain! Thanks for spotting that. I'll have another look. It does seem to be quite the leak to go from max to min in a day, unless it burps that much two days in a row.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was so focused on the pulleys, I had overlooked what else was going on.

On the '98 XC, I repaired (for now) the battery cable to the fuse box and get 12.6V at the relays but still no crank.

See if you can get 12 V on the remote starter wire that lives on the strut tower when you turn the ignition key to crankposition. That will tell you if it’s starter or circuitry. You can always find a Comparitive Lit major around to turn the key, in this economy, you might have to stoop to a Communications major.

Bruno...completely forgot to point you to the rear hatch wires as a potential cause for a no crank. Check Fuse number 6 ( maybe?) for central locking and see if it's blown. Tha one goes when the wires in the hatch hinge break on driver side, and will lead to a no crank.

Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.
