Any advice for a first time vovlo buyer? Thinking of getting a 3.2 XC90 with just the basics.

Mostly owned Japanese cars, but my dad owned a volvo and I just have "loved" them forever.

My biggest concern is people saying to me, "well you know you are just going to be buying a FORD"

Thanks

Or you can buy an extended warranty!

Shop around and try to ask some dealer service advisers which warranty has the best coverage and the least amount of hassles to deal with.

It can save you a $5000 trans replacement, see the previous post!

Personally, I wouldn't buy any Volvo without one!

I don't know why the talk is about "selling your car" when you don't even own one yet or even about the warranty at this point. That's something you can negotiate at the time of sale or even several thousand miles after you buy your car. Volvo, even though part of the Ford group is still quite independent and still makes great cars. Some have their quirks so the best thing to do is research this board and others- let me suggest www.swedespeed.com and find out which ones have better reliability. Personally I love the XC90 though I don't own one.
