Springs only determine the resonant frequency, the won’t stop unless you spray them water...dampening them

Hi,

Hey i know you were only joking, but tapping the spring would actually cause it to resonate for maybe a second or two, and if that frequency was picked up with say an o'scope and mic, that could be used to determine the ageing perhaps.
Of course we'd need a reference to the spring when it was new, which i am not sure would be too easy to get.

I solved the required ODE, and the result was:

That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
