1998 V70R Vacuum Hose

Post by labans »

A major brain fart has caused me to be unable to hook up this one vacuum hose, after removing the air cleaner for a clean-up.
It is the white hose in the photo----WHERE does it plug in to?? Lost in space..........

It goes to an elbow which plugs into the rear of the air cleaner box. It's sister lives next door to it, and supplies the vacuum to the switch. It's the vacuum control for the heater valve on the air cleaner box.

Why, Thank You, abscate. Any chance you might get a couple of photos of the setup you are talking about, and post them?

Wait a minute - this is for an R turbo model?

The R turbo does not have an air cleaner door - unless someone has put the wrong one on your car.

Temperature management of a turbo car is done by the intercooler, not the air cleaner

Good Catch! Which is why I asked for a photo---the R model does not have a place on the air cleaner to attach this tube. And if you look at the photo I attached you can see that the one end of the white pipe connects to the air inlet tube on the far side of the MAP so it would not make sense for the other end to go to the air cleaner.......

It’s the “blue” line for the TCV, isn’t it?

No, that dumps into the Snorkel down by the PTC

Im guessing some sort of vacuum control for either SAS or EGR.

Hm. You’re right...

On 9454041 it looks like it’s going to a check valve from the purge valve for the evap. This has me confused now as well. :D
