v70 pulls to right

Post by daisyifyoudo »

I've asked this question before but am posing again.Car pulling to the right.I went to take it in to check alignment and the guy said it's not the problem.he drove it and it wouldn't pull of course.now a month later it's worse and i'm not in my hometown.Any ideas before taking it to mechanic so i can be a bit educated.I'm a woman so the possibilities of taking advantage are high.Thank you.

Have you had any flats or other tire damage repaired recently? Take it to a tire shop and have them check the balance of the tires. You could have thrown a weight, or if you've had it patched previously, they might not have rebalanced the tire.

Is your V70 an AWD or FWD car?

Somethings not right- obviously. I think you need another alignment place looking at it. Have the guy ride with you again. Could be a bad ball joint too, but a good alignment shop should be able to spot that. Also, is the rear out and you only got a front wheel alignment? If that's the case, the rear could make the front pull one way or the other.

I would give a 90% chance that the inner or outer tie rod on the right hand side of the rack and pinon steering should be changed. They are not checked by driving the car. My guy gives me the "Formula 1" allignment. ....as little toe in as possible.

Wheel balance has NOTHING to do with a car pulling one way or another.
Try swapping the front tires and see what the car does.

Get back to me after you do that

I'll have to disagree with you there. I had a Pontiac that the driver's front wheel was unbalanced, and besides the horrible vibration, would pull. After a remount and rebalance, the noise was gone and so was the pull.

That's just it...the original poster didn't mention a vibration....that's why neither JRL or I jumped at the wheel out of balance scenario as the reason for the car pulling in one direction.
