2000 volvo s80 2.9

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

As far as heat goes this was a problem before timing kit intalled. Its a heater core issue I am pretty sure so not priority ar this time. State inspection is 😩🤷🏻‍♂️
I will have to go back and retrieve code again. Its definately said heater control bank 2 and I believe P0500 code. I will update with EXACTLY what reader say’s when I get a chance to go back in. My bad for not writing down! 19yrs with this car you think I would know better🙄
Thank you

A P0500 comes up as a speed sensor - which would align with your tranny light.

As for the heater core, if it is not leaking you can try back flushing it. First make sure your thermostat is working correctly. Some people use CLR as a wash to clean out the crud. You can pull the two heater core hoses at the firewall and hook up some hoses and a bucket. Do a search for heater core back flush and you will find some videos - the Volvo design is pretty easy to rig up. Once you are done just use some water to further flush, maybe followed by some distilled water. Then air - you could even blow into the hose if need be.

The only concern is clearing the crud may cause a leak, but if the heater core is that bad it will leak soon enough.
