2005 XC90 2.9 ltr awd tr6 Brake Failure, etc. messages

Post by hebhere »

I would say good to be back but maybe I will think about that since I come here with problems. But, I find answers here and that part is good.
I am getting the messages regarding Brake Failure.

BCM-0139
I have researched this code a lot. I do have VIDA

Replace Brake Booster, (used), out of an identical Unit. Same Code. (yes I know I could have gotten a bad one also, I have thought of that). I understand there is a method to testing the Booster, I do not know it and have yet to do it.

I had the Brake Module tested and repaired. Same Code so I sent to another to have it tested again. I have read and see YouTubes on the pins not being soldered and come loose. The second company said that the original was all done well and it needed nothing. I am waiting to get it back now.

I have changed all fluids.

I have not removed the Halex motor and taken it apart yet, but will that is my next job

Ok.

What do you think? I can't get rid of that message... Driving me nuts. That is the only code I have now. I have gotten rid of all others.

Any ideas?

How deep have you utilized VIDA? It should be able to give you a pretty granular look at how the communication systems are communicating and where the faulty path lies. Have you dug in deep with VIDA or just used the higher level testing?

Is it just the error code being thrown, or are you also having problems with the brakes themselves?

I am not that happy with the Vida I have. It seems to not be that great. All I get are the codes, period.
Wishing I had another version.

But, to answer your questions. It only shows the codes. I would love to see where the fault lies.

To: JoeJoethedogfaceboy:

Only the error code. Brakes are great.
the problem with that code is not just the code I have read, it is that other things such as Helix is not functioning due to this problem. As per reading the code.

Car runs and operates great.

RickHaleParker appears to be the master of VIDA. I would reach out to him with a PM or hope he sees this thread. Maybe start a new thread asking for VIDA help.

VIDA should contain the information you need. You need to dig a little deeper into it to get the information - RickHaleParker should be able to guide you through the steps to get the actual testing done.

Right now it is stinking cold here in MN, and I am not up to going to my garage and poking around to figure out the steps.

Have you tried searching the forum for VIDA help or watching some videos on it.

I wish I was SuperHuman, but I am merely the owner of SuperHerman, one of my pet cats. She was bugging when I set up my account so I took her name.

I know in VIDA you can run some functions and have the system go through each of the modules and it will highlight problems (maybe gray out). It has been sometime since I have used mine, but once you figure it out it is rather powerful. It also has steps to check possible offending causes.

Hopefully RickHaleParker can guide you, based on his posts he seems to have a tremendous grasp of VIDA's functions.

The car is also equipped with an onboard diagnostic, do a search, which will check most of the modules and show if one is not operational.
