VIDA Programming Issue

Post by volvolocksmith »

I tried doing my very first Volvo remote on a 2008 XC90

After buying remote programming software...On the screen where Vida verifies car and then goes onto downloading software, it stops and says.

The actual node is not able to receive the software package with the download speed set for DiCE. (00) All control modules in the car must be in programming mode in order for programming to be carried out. 1. Connect an external power source to the communication tool. 2. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. 3. Select SEND PROG to start sending prog command. 4. Wait until information about the connecting battery terminal is displayed. 5. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. 6. Select CONTINUE to start the download.

Im using CardaqM and had a booster connected to the car. VIDA showed 12.6 volts on screen.
Tried the procedure above but kept getting same error.

What could be the problem? Thanks

"The actual node is not able to receive the software package with the download speed set for DiCE. (00)"

This indicates the download speed from the Cardaq M to the control module is too fast or too slow.

Do you think I need to get a different device? If yes, do you recommend one? See a ton of different devices made specifically for Volvo. Thanks

I would call and talk to tech support at Drew Technologies before giving up on it. According to their site Volvo-Vida appears to be fully supported including programming. Could be something simple as the baud rate setting in the USB/COM port emulation settings. They would probably be the ones to figure it out.

I'll second call Drew Technologies tech support (877.888.2534 (option 3) or email [email protected]). It is their hardware, they most likely they have encountered this before.

You should be able to get the Cardaq M working with VIDA. Vida supports three different hardware interfaces, Volvo VT2000, Volvo DiCE and J2534 devices.

The Volvo DiCE units you see all over the place are Chinese clones unless you get one direct from Volvo. The Chinese clones can range from excellent to missing features. If you do go after a Chinese clone DiCE look for two things, full chip set and J2534 compliant. You can use a good DiCE clone as a J2534 passthru for software other then VIDA.
